Technique: sculpture

Object: This baroque sculpture was discovered by a resident of Jaśkowa Dolina, Arkadiusz Kowalin, in a nearby pond. The sculpture was renovated and its discovery contributed to the rehabilitation of Jaśkowy Zakątek and the creation of a recreational garden by the pond, which referred to the old function of this place – before the war, there used to be an orchard here that belonged to a patrician manor. The sculpture of Fortune was returned to its original location, on a stone wall by the water. The statue depicts a woman in a long draped robe, standing with her head bent forward, holding a cornucopia in her left hand – the attribute of Fortune, the Roman goddess guiding human destiny.

Place: Jaśkowy Zakątek (at the intersection of Jaśkowa Dolina and Eugeniusza Romera streets in Wrzeszcz) was created on the initiative of local residents and financed out of the Citizens Budget. This is a park and garden area near 67 Jaśkowa Dolina Street, on the Jaśkowy stream, referring to the former gardens that used to be located there. The total surface area of the plot is 1,800 sq m. Jaśkowy Zakątek is furnished with sculptures, decorations, a gloriette, benches, water feeders for birds and plants with different blooming seasons.
