Technique: bust – metal cast, granite plinth
Object: Bust of John Paul II. On the plinth, directly below the bust, is an inscription reading: “John Paul II”. The plinth is encircled with a pallium (an element of the attire of Catholic metropolitans, a white band adornment made of wool and worn on the shoulders).
Place: area belonging to the Church of Saint Jadwiga of Silesia. The church is located at the northern end of the interior of Księdza Mariana Góreckiego Street, its main façade facing the interior of the perpendicular Oliwska Street. The interior of Góreckiego Street is relatively carefully formed by building façades and elevations, with the entrance to the cemetery also dedicated to Saint Jadwiga of Silesia at its southern end. The urban interior of Oliwska Street lacks a careful spatial formation. This street constitutes the northern boundary of the Nowy Port street grid. More to the north are the port areas, the mouth of the Martwa Wisla, and the Westerplatte on its other side.
