It takes the form of a semi-circular basin lined with ceramic tiles, adjoining a slightly higher vertical wall also covered with tiles in shades of brown, beige, and blue. At the centre of the decorative vertical wall is a small metal plaque, finished in a patinated copper colour, depicting a realistically detailed silhouette of a seahorse. The original design intended for water to flow down from the upper surface of the wall into the basin. However, the fountain is no longer operational, and the basin has been repurposed as a bed for ornamental plants. Nearby, there is another fountain designed by sculptor Adam Stachowicz.

Location: The Wiszące Ogrody residential estate is part of the Jasień district, bordering other Gdańsk districts such as Matarnia, Brętowo, and Piecki-Migowo, as well as the rural municipality of Kolbudy. The development phases of the estate were completed between 2009 and 2023 by the Hossa Investment Group. This modern multi-family housing complex includes commercial spaces and a small square with a fountain. The Jasień district was incorporated into Gdańsk’s administrative boundaries in 1973, with most of its development occurring in the 1990s. It was officially designated as an independent district in 2010. Historically, the area was rural and, earlier, part of a manorial estate with various names over the centuries (Ninechow, Nynkow, Nenkau). The current name, Jasień, given in 1954, references the rule of Polish nobleman Feliks Łebiński from the Jasieński family, who acquired the area in the late 18th century and established an impressive manor-park complex, parts of which still exist today.

Information about the author/s: unknown

Dimensions: plaque: ca. 25 cm × 10 cm, structure: ca. 220 cm × 120 cm

Condition of the object: no remarks

Owner/guardian: Hossa

Author of the entry: Kora Kowalska

The fountain is located in a square off Sympatyczna Street in the Wiszące Ogrody (Hanging Gardens) residential estate.

[57
160
55
post-5146","object","type-object","status-publish","hentry","object_cat-fountain","obj_district-jasien-2","object_author-kora-kowalska-2
["GET
