Its left part features several ships under full sail in perspective, all set against the background of rectangular fields, intended to suggest ceramic decorations of various textures and colours. The remaining surface consists of interweaved diamonds, which serve as the background for silhouettes of ships, boats, fish and fantastic animals, and zodiac signs in the lower left part.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Place:<\/strong> The decoration is on the side fa\u00e7ade of the tenement house at 47 Piwna Street, from the side of ks. J\u00f3zef Zator-Przytocki square, opposite the main entrance to the Mariacki church. Alfons \u0141osowski\u2019s \u201cMarabou\u201d sculpture is right next to the fa\u00e7ade.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Information about the author:<\/strong> Kazimierz \u015aramkiewicz (born in 1914, in Poniec, died in 1998 in\u00a0Gda\u0144sk). Painter, professor at the State Academy of Fine Arts (PWSSP) in Gda\u0144sk, founder of the Sopot school, he studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Lviv University of Technology in 1932\u20131939. In 1947, he received his artist painter\u2019s diploma at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toru\u0144. Between 1938 and 1939 he was an assistant at the Department of Drawing and Painting of the Lviv University of Technology, and in the 1945\u20131951 period an assistant and then assistant professor at the Department of Drawing and Painting at the Faculty of Architecture of the Gda\u0144sk University of Technology. From 1950 he was a lecturer, as of 1956 an associate professor, and in the 1967 to 1986 period a professor of the Department of Painting and Drawing at the State Academy of Fine Arts (PWSSP) in Gda\u0144sk. He continued to work at the university until 1984. From 1939 his works had been presented at 65 individual exhibitions and over 250 collective exhibitions in Poland, as well as many countries in Europe, America, Africa and Asia. He also received numerous awards and distinctions for outstanding achievements in painting.
